Psalm 37:3-Trust in the Lord, and do good; Dwell in the land, and feed on His faithfulness.
Every Sunday my church reads Psalms 37. This verse recently stood out to me as I’ve meditated on what it means to “feed on His faithfulness.” To feed on God’s faithfulness means to trust God enough to sustain your life and meet your needs by providing for you with His Bread of Life (read John 6:35) and Living Water (read John 4:10-14). But in order to actually feed, meaning to consume and be nourished by His faithfulness, there are four things I believe one has to do:
- To feed on God’s faithfulness, you have to know God. You can’t speak for someone’s character if you just know of them, rather than know them. So, do you really know God or do you just know of Him?
- To feed on God’s faithfulness, you have to remember God. Remember who He is, what He’s done, and trust what He can still do as a Living God in all of your seasons—good or bad. So, who is God to you and why? In the highs and lows of life, what do you believe and remember about Him? Consider pondering on that.
- To feed on God’s faithfulness, you also have to be willing to share your testimony and listen to the testimonies of other believers. Revelations 12:11 says And they overcame him [the enemy] by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives unto death. Our testimony is our weapon. You have to be willing to share your life so that more believers can be encouraged by the works of God in your life and defeat the lies of the enemy.
- Lastly, to feed on God’s faithfulness, you actually have to believe that He’s faithful. You have to trust Him with your life and believe that what He says He will do, He will actually do. And if God has done it before throughout Scripture, He can do it over and over again just for you! I am a witness and know this to be true.
This Good Friday I invite you to come and know God. Come and know the one and true living God, Jesus Christ who came to live on this earth for 33 years because of His unfailing love towards you. Jesus loves you so much that He literally died! He rose again because no power on earth, under earth, or above earth can conquer Him. He died to defeat anxiety, addiction, depression—every overwhelming spirit that separates you from truly knowing God.
Ten years ago on Palm Sunday, I gave my first YES to Jesus and I have never regretted my decision. Just recently, I decided to rededicate my life and it has been so refreshing. So please, if you haven’t yet given your yes and you desire to, or have questions about who this Jesus is, contact me! I’d love to pray with you, encourage you, and answer any and all questions you may have. We never know when our last day on this earth is going to be, but it’s so important to be rest assured that you know where you’ll end up after you leave this earth.
Happy Good Friday and feed on the faithfulness of God this Easter weekend!
With the love of Christ,
Beautyoluwa
