It’s incredible how every creation on this earth can show or teach us something about God. Have you ever thought of that? I’m not just talking about the beautiful sunsets you see on Instagram here and there, or the large beach fronts you see during the summer season. I’m talking about day-to-day creations we see, like dogs for example.
The bible says that “through everything God has made, [we] can clearly see His invisible qualities…” (Romans 1:20). So I thought to challenge that verse, and I observed my dog. I know this may sound crazy, but from observing the relationship that my dad has with my dog, Jojoe, it reminded me of God’s love for us.

My dog has this weird, unconditional love for my dad. Every morning he’s ecstatic in his wait to see my dad wake up and when my dad finally does wake up, JoJoe goes C-R-A-Z-Y. I mean from pouncing and jumping everywhere, to wagging his tail so much that he has to regain his balance, almost as if he’s saying I’ve been waiting forever for you to wake up. Finally, once my dad pets him on the head with a “good morning” he’s calm down, but still he continues in his pursuit to see what my dad will be doing for the day. So he follows him, like Scooby-Doo did with Shaggy.
It’s interesting how the love my dog has for my dad shows a glimpse of the everlasting love that God has for us. Every single morning God cannot wait until we wake up and do the work He has set for us. It fills him with the UTMOST joy just to see our eyes widen from those long (or short) hours of sleep. Just to hear our voice, and communication to Him in prayer, just like Jojoe, He’s ecstatic, pouncing, and jumping and ready to pour His never-ending, reckless love on us. A love that no mountain high, no valley low, no-thing at all can separate us from it.
But unfortunately, from our end, that love isn’t always recipricol. I’ve observed that with my dad and dog as well.
Some days, my dad may be in a rush and doesn’t even think to pet JoJoe in the morning. My dad may even go to the extent of saying “you this dog, I don’t have time for you today.” (kudos to you if you read that in an African accent).
Despite my dad even telling him that, Jojoe is still jumping and pouncing just to get my dad’s attention. And if that doesn’t work, JoJoe whimpers. And if that doesn’t work, he may go to the extent of barking as if to say hey I’m here, can’t you see me?
Imagine how many times God has to tell us Hey I’m here, can’t you see me? Sometimes God will do everything He can to get our attention, but we never notice His calls. Why is that?
Today, I challenge you to go boldly to the thrown of grace and speak with your Father, His arms are open wide to receive you each and every single time you go to Him.
“But God shows and clearly proves His [own] love for us by the fact that while we were still sinners, Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed One) died for us.”
Romans 5:8
